Business Meetings in the Virtual World

Now companies like IBM and Cisco are using virtual worlds like Second Life in business applications.

This technology could prove to be incredibly useful for startups. When first starting a company, you don't always have an office and you don't always have all of the members in one place. This can solve as a solution for that problem Do you think that a company could thrive sustainably from just virtual meetings?

  1. This is really interesting. I always thought the virtual world does not have professional atmosphere compared to the real world.
    Actually my cousin runs a start-up company in Boston, MA. I remember that he was struggling to find a space for meetings. He told me that they went to different fast food restaurant and coffee shops to have meetings. I personally do not know if he knew about Second Life. Or maybe he preferred having face-to-face meeting rather. I agree with you that this technology will be incredibly useful for start-ups. However, I would not mind having a meeting at Starbucks since start-up companies usually do not have many employees. Moreover, I like the atmosphere of coffee shop personally.
